Overview
Project Management moves fast, and this certificate is built to match the pace. USF’s new Project Management Certificate was created from the ground up for today’s Project Management (PM) world – where delivery models are blended, tools evolve constantly, and AI is becoming part of everyday project work. The program includes hands-on use of modern PM tools, practical AI applications, and an execution-focused approach that goes beyond theory. This is a new program with a modern blueprint, designed to help you lead real projects with clarity, agility, and efficiency. Traditional PM courses focus primarily on theory. What sets our program apart is the merging of foundational methodologies with hands-on execution and practical AI workflows. You’ll learn how to choose the right approach (predictive, agile, or hybrid), build a complete end-to-end project plan, and communicate progress in a way that drives decisions.
The program aligns with PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition principles and the Agile Practice Guide.
How You'll Learn
This is applied learning: built for professionals who want tools they can use right away. Across eight live sessions, you’ll practice essential PM skills like defining scope and success metrics, setting up communication rhythms, building role clarity, tracking execution, and navigating tough project conversations.
AI+ Tools You'll Work With
You’ll explore how today’s project teams use AI to accelerate planning and decision support without losing human judgment and accountability. In the Tool Exploration Lab, you’ll work hands-on with tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Asana, Infinity, and ClickUp (or comparable tools of your choice), applying them to real PM outputs like project charters, stakeholder management, risk thinking, and RACI planning.
Capstone: Build It Like You Would at Work
Walk away with a portfolio you can showcase! You’ll finish with a capstone project where you develop a full project plan for a real or hypothetical initiative, including:
- Your chosen methodology (or a hybrid blend)
- An AI tools integration plan
- A communication and reporting plan using AI assistants
- A one-page executive summary generated via AI and refined by you
- A short executive-style pitch with peer review and feedback
