Curriculum & Course Details

The USF Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is designed for professionals who have already completed Green Belt certification and are ready to expand their process improvement expertise. In just seven weeks, you’ll learn how to lead Lean Six Sigma projects, mentor teams, and apply advanced statistical tools to drive measurable business outcomes.

Module 1: Strategic Planning and Lean Six Sigma Integration
Learn how to deploy Lean Six Sigma methodologies across the organization by aligning projects with business goals. Topics include leadership roles, the Lean Six Sigma Maturity Model, and strategic prioritization of projects.

Module 2: Define Phase
Build a solid foundation by mastering project management tools like project charters, performance measures, and financial evaluation techniques that distinguish between cost savings and revenue generation.

Module 3: Measure Phase (Part 1)
Develop proficiency in process flow metrics, such as cycle time, throughput, and work in progress (WIP). Conduct Gemba Walks to directly observe processes and collect accurate data for your project.

Module 4: Measure Phase (Part 2)
